Fabio Enrique Ochoa-Vasco was involved in drug trafficking since the early 1980’s and was allegedly responsible for sending six to eight tons of cocaine monthly from Colombia to the United States. He was the head of a DTO that transports multi-ton quantities of cocaine via go-fast boats and cargo ships from Colombia to Central America for distribution in the United States. Ochoa-Vasco allegedly had ties to the Autodefensas Unidades de Colombia (AUC), a Colombian paramilitary organization that is identified by the U.S. as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. He was also previously associated with narcotics traffickers Luis Fernando Galeano and Gerado “Kike” Moncada, both deceased, who worked with Pablo Emilio Escobar-Gaviria. In September 2004, Ochoa-Vasco was indicted by the Middle District of Florida for narcotics trafficking and money laundering. He also has a previous narcotics conviction and is a fugitive on an indictment from 1989 in the Southern District of Florida. Ochoa-Vasco was captured in Venezuela in 2009.
