Los Zetas Cartel evolved from a small group of deserters from the Mexican Special Forces, hired by the Gulf Cartel as a security force, into one of the most powerful and violent criminal organizations in Mexico. Los Zetas is responsible for the trafficking of the Gulf Cartel’s cocaine and other drugs from Mexico to the United Sates.
Since the death of Los Zetas founder, Heriberto LAZCANO Lazcano, and the arrest of his replacement, Miguel Angel TREVINO Morales, aka Z-42; Jose Maria GUIZAR Valencia has assumed complete command and control of his own faction of Los Zetas in the Southern region of Mexico. Given Guizar-Valencia’s present control of this area and his logistical management of cocaine shipments transiting across the strategic geographic Mexico/Guatemala border, Guizar-Valencia is considered his own entity working in concert but independently of Los Zetas faction headed by Omar TREVINO Morales aka Z-40 (Miguel Angel TREVINO Morales’ brother).
GUIZAR Valencia is responsible for the importation of thousands of kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine to the United States on a yearly basis. Los Zetas, under the command of Guizar-Valencia, have murdered an untold number of Guatemalan civilians during the systematic overtake of the Guatemalan border region with Mexico during recent years. Guizar-Valencia has been charged in separate drug trafficking indictments in the Eastern District of Texas, the Southern District of Texas and the Eastern District of Virginia.
The U.S. Department of State is currently offering a REWARD OF UP TO $5 MILLION for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of JOSE MARIA GUIZAR-VALENCIA.
