On or about October 8, 2015, a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Virginia returned an indictment charging Tito Montes Bobadilla (also known as Alejandro Montes-Bobadilla or Pimpi), Herlinda Bobadilla (also known as Erlinda Ramos-Bobadilla or Chinda), Juan Carlos Montes Bobadilla (also known as Mono), Noe Montes-Bobadilla (also known as Ton), and two others with conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine knowing and intending that it will be unlawfully imported into the United States, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 959(a) and 963.
According to the indictment and court documents, Herlinda Bobadilla and her two sons, Juan Carlos Montes Bobadilla and Tito Montes Bobadilla, are leaders in the Montes drug trafficking organization (DTO). The Montes DTO allegedly is a family-based organization operating out of the Department of Colón, Honduras, located on the northeastern coast of Honduras on the Caribbean Sea. The coastal base of operations allows the Montes DTO to receive air and maritime shipments of cocaine from Colombia and/or other South American source countries, which are ultimately destined for the United States. According to the indictment, the Montes DTO engages in violence and public corruption to further its drug-trafficking operations. An indictment is merely an allegation and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
Noe Montes-Bobadilla, who led the Montes DTO prior to his arrest, was extradited to the United States in 2017, subsequently convicted, and, in April 2019, sentenced to 37 years’ imprisonment for the drug-trafficking offense. Herlinda Bobadilla, Juan Carlos Montes Bobadilla, and Tito Montes Bobadilla remain fugitives. They are believed to be armed and dangerous.
The U.S. Department of State is offering a REWARD OF UP TO $ 5 MILLION for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Herlinda Bobadilla.
