For members of the foreign affairs community, bidding on and assignment to a U.S. embassy or consulate overseas involves careful research and planning. The Overseas Briefing Center (OBC) assists U.S. government employees and their family members with preparation for an assignment to a U.S. mission abroad and for a return to the United States. To support transitions from one assignment to the next, the OBC creates, curates, and collects post-specific resources as well as general guidance materials.  Specialties include bidding and assignments, general logistics for an international move, pet shipping, and expert “one-on-one” assistance.

Access to bidding and assignments research is available both in-Center and online through Post Info To Go on the Department of State OpenNet. Eligible family members (EFMs) on a U.S. government employee’s official orders to serve at a U.S. embassy or consulate overseas can access post-specific information via the website Post Info To Go – ExternalEmail for access information |
