Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Marcia Bernicat will travel to New York for meetings during the United Nations General Assembly, including leading the U.S. delegation to the UN Secretary General’s Climate Action Summit on September 23.

While in New York, Ambassador Bernicat will participate in events related to protecting the ocean and the environment and advancing economic growth, resilience, and adaptation.  She will also join a meeting of African Great Lakes regional ministers of health on Ebola preparedness and response hosted by the United States, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the World Health Organization.  Throughout the week, Ambassador Bernicat will meet with her counterparts from several countries and international organizations in bilateral meetings.
