The QSI International School of Chisinau (QSIC) is an independent, coeducational day school, which offers an educational program from pre-kindergarten through grade 12 for students of all nationalities. The school was founded in 1996. The school year comprises three terms extending from late August to mid-June. The school is fully accredited for grades PK-12 by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Organization: The school is under the administration of Quality Schools International. An advisory board of 5-10 members living in the Chisinau area assists the school in its operation.

Curriculum: The school offers an outcomes-based education with a curriculum similar to that of U.S. public and private schools. Instruction, leading to individual mastery, takes advantage of small class sizes and the diverse educational backgrounds of the students. Instruction is in English. Russian, French, and Romanian are offered daily as elective foreign languages for students aged 5-18 years old.

Faculty: In the 2022-2023 school year, QSIC has 48 total staff including 25 teachers, 10 of whom are U.S. citizens, 14 host-country nationals, and 1 third-country nationals. All teaching faculty maintain a teaching certificate/credential e.g., Diploma of Teaching/registered Teacher’s certificate from their countries of origin.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, enrollment was 147 (PreK-grade 5: 92; grades 6-8: 27; and grades 9-12: 26). Of the total, 37 were U.S. citizens, 38 were host-country nationals, and 70 were third-country nationals.

Facilities: The school’s facilities are located in a quiet residential area in the northwest of Chisinau. They include 20 classrooms, a library, a gymnasium area, a soccer field, and an outside walled courtyard.

Finances: In the 2022-2023 school year, the school’s income derives primarily from tuition. Annual tuition rates are as follows: two to four-year-old class: $4,300 (half day) or $5,300 (full day); and K-grade 12: $22,000. An annual capital fund fee of $1,600 per student is required. The school also charges a one-time registration fee of $300. These fees are payable in U.S. dollars. (All fees quoted in U.S. dollars.)
