Charles Rosenfarb, M.D.
Dr. Charles Rosenfarb is currently serving as the Medical Director of the Bureau of Medical Services at the Department of State. He began his State Department career in 1998 as the Regional Medical Officer in Sanaa. His subsequent postings included Abidjan, Pretoria, Johannesburg, and Washington where he was the Deputy Medical Director from 2011-2014.
Dr. Rosenfarb is a board-certified Family Practitioner and has a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatrics. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Johns Hopkins University, majoring in the History of Science, and received his medical degree at the New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Rosenfarb did his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore.
Upon completing his residency, Dr. Rosenfarb worked at a community medical center in downtown Baltimore, providing care to elderly inner city patients. In 1993, he took a position as Assistant Professor in Family Medicine at the University of Maryland, serving as Associate Director of a Geriatric rehabilitation unit and Chief of Family Medicine at the Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore prior to joining the Department.
