Charles Faulkner

Charles Faulkner is Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Regional, Global, and Functional Affairs in the Bureau of Legislative Affairs where he manages an office of 30 foreign affairs officers responsible for the Department's day-to-day relationship with Congress on legislation, budget and appropriations, and foreign policy.

Charles previously served as a Senior Adviser for Legislative Affairs at the Department under both Secretary of State Powell and Rice during the Bush Administration. He also served as Legislative Liaison to the Commander, U.S. Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) at the Pentagon during the Obama Administration. In the U.S. House of Representatives, Charles was legislative aide to Representatives Tom DeLay of Texas and Jim McCrery of Louisiana.

Charles was Vice President of Government Relations at BGR Group, a consulting and public affairs firm based in Washington, DC. Charles was a senior analyst, management, and technology consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton and SAIC advising senior executives at Defense Intelligence Agency and National Geospatial Intelligence Agency.

A reserve officer in the U.S. Air Force, Charles has held assignments at the Joint Staff, the Air Force Staff, and U.S. Central Command where he has provided support on Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) matters, nuclear weapons and strategic stability, counterterrorism, and information security.

Charles holds an M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College and a B.A. in History from the Virginia Military Institute. He is a candidate for M.B.A. at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler School of Business.
