Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Garber Attends the United Nations Environmental Assembly
Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Judith Garber will travel to Nairobi, Kenya, December 4–6, to represent the United States at the third meeting of the United Nations Environmental Assembly (UNEA-3). The gathering will focus on ways governments, international organizations, and the private sector can work together toward reducing pollution globally. The U.S. delegation will promote U.S. leadership on pollution control and monitoring, and support private sector engagement and innovation within UNEA.
While in Nairobi, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Garber will engage with youth at an event that will highlight space cooperation, earth observation science, and how travels in space have improved our understanding of environmental challenges and the vulnerability of our planet.
Additionally, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Garber will join the Annual Network of Women Ministers breakfast to discuss the critical role of women in environmental policy decisions, and she will contribute to the UNEA-3 Leadership Dialogue on Practical Solutions for a Pollution-Free Planet.
