Ambassador Nathan A. Sales, the Coordinator for Counterterrorism, traveled to London on March 14 to discuss the U.K.’s recent designation of Hizballah. During his visit, Ambassador Sales congratulated our British allies for their leadership in designating Hizballah in its entirety and rejecting the false distinction between its military wing and its purportedly “political” wing. As Secretary Pompeo recently noted, this Iran-sponsored terrorist group has American blood on its hands and continues to plot and carry out attacks in the Middle East, Europe, and around the world.

Ambassador Sales emphasized that international pressure is needed to hold Iran and Hizballah accountable for their terrorist plotting. He underscored the importance of other global partners following the UK’s lead in designating the entire group.
