Rex W. Tillerson
Secretary of State
Treaty Room
Washington, DC
November 20, 2017

SECRETARY TILLERSON: Good morning, all. I want to welcome Foreign Minister al-Thani from Qatar to the State Department again. He’s a frequent visitor, but he’s always welcome. We have a number of important things to discuss, obviously, so pleased he’s here. Thank you.

QUESTION: Mr. Secretary, what do you intend to do about the now-acknowledged morale problems at the State Department and the worries that the department’s going to be weakened over time?

SECRETARY TILLERSON: The redesign is going to address all of that. And this department is performing extraordinarily well, and I take exception to anyone who characterizes otherwise. It’s just not true. Thank you.
