Section 7031(c)(1)(A) of the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Appropriations Act since 2008 renders ineligible for entry into the United States current and former officials of foreign governments and their immediate family members about whom the Secretary of State has credible information that they have been involved, directly or indirectly, in significant corruption, including corruption relating to the extraction of natural resources, or a gross violation of human rights (GVHR). Section 7031(c)(4) of the Act directs the Secretary to provide a report to Congress.
