Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met today with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels in advance of the NATO Foreign Ministers’ meeting to underscore the United States’ determination to strengthen and revitalize ties with NATO Allies.  The Secretary reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to the NATO Alliance and its essential role as the premier and indispensable vehicle for ensuring Transatlantic peace and freedom. The leaders discussed the importance of continued consultation on Afghanistan, concern over Russia and China’s malign activity and disinformation efforts as well as arms control and regional security matters.

Secretary Blinken and the Secretary General also discussed the NATO 2030 report, which provides a solid foundation for NATO’s adaptation to new strategic realities, including climate change.
