Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo spoke yesterday with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian to discuss G7 cooperation and our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Secretary Pompeo reiterated the U.S. commitment to the Transatlantic relationship and emphasized the need for U.S.-French cooperation at NATO. The Secretary and Foreign Minister discussed the importance of maintaining the integrity of our 5G networks. The Secretary thanked the Foreign Minister for France’s counterterrorism efforts in the Sahel and emphasized the need to continue to coordinate assistance and empower Sahelian governments to provide security for their people.
