Secretary Michael R. Pompeo met today in Washington with Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze and formally opened the 10th anniversary plenary of the U.S.-Georgia Strategic Partnership Commission.  They discussed Georgia’s partnership with NATO, cooperation on issues of regional security, and reforms necessary for Georgia to ensure the rule of law and fair elections.  The two also discussed Russia’s ongoing occupation of Georgian territory.  The Secretary reiterated U.S. condemnation of the occupation and steadfast support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
