Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo met today with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates.  Secretary Pompeo presented his condolences on the death of the Foreign Minister’s brother, Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.  Secretary Pompeo and Foreign Minister Al Nahyan discussed the need to counter the Iranian regime’s destabilizing behavior.  On Libya, the Secretary and the Foreign Minister discussed the Russian presence and the urgent need for de-escalation, a ceasefire, and a political solution.  They also discussed the importance of Gulf Cooperation Council unity.
