Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo met today with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.  Secretary Pompeo thanked Foreign Minister Al Saud for Saudi Arabia’s continued partnership and for its leadership in facilitating the Riyadh Agreement signed on November 5 between the Republic of Yemen Government and the Southern Transition Council in Yemen.  The Secretary and the Foreign Minister agreed that this was an important step towards achieving a comprehensive political solution in Yemen and an end to the war.  Secretary Pompeo and Foreign Minister Al Saud discussed bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern, including the need to counter the Iranian regime’s destabilizing behavior.  They also discussed other regional developments including in Turkey and Syria, as well as human rights.
