Summary

• Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken traveled to San Francisco, California from November 13-17 to co-host the APEC Ministerial Meeting with U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai and participate in Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Week meetings.

• In San Francisco, Secretary Blinken advanced our APEC host year policy priorities for an “interconnected, innovative, and inclusive” Asia-Pacific region under our theme of “Creating a Resilient and Sustainable Future for All.” The Secretary, Ambassador Tai, and their APEC member economy counterparts conducted a series of discussions on key topics including supply chain resilience; science, research, and innovation; critical and emerging technology; clean energy; high-standards infrastructure; women’s economic empowerment; and inclusivity.

• Secretary Blinken also supported President Joseph R. Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’s participation in APEC Economic Leaders’ Week and related events, including the APEC CEO Summit and the APEC Business Advisory Council Dialogue with APEC Leaders. President Biden and Vice President Harris reaffirmed the importance of U.S. economic leadership in the Asia-Pacific region and underscored the progress made during the U.S. host year.
