During Assistant Secretary Singh’s 2018 visit to Israel, she spoke with women tech and finance entrepreneurs who shared their local successes and a desire to grow and scale their businesses globally.  Throughout her travels, she continued to hear a similar narrative – that women entrepreneurs were interested in expanding their businesses beyond local markets.  These conversations helped inspire the Bureau’s Providing Opportunities for Women’s Economic Rise initiative or POWER.  The initiative  uses the global reach of the State Department’s diplomatic resources and engages the private sector to provide platforms for women to participate in a global network and access resources.

The She Entrepreneurs cooperation with the MIT Enterprise Forum Israel and U.S. Embassy Jerusalem is a great example of a POWER project that captures the initiative’s objectives as a whole.

She Entrepreneurs: Women Entrepreneurs and Femtech Program

This exciting new seminar series was launched on July 15, 2020, in partnership with the MIT Enterprise Forum Israel and the U.S. Embassy in Israel with support from Efrati Galili Confino law firm, DiscounTech, IBI TechFund, Heidi Brun & Associates, and Brainnu.

The program will focus on two promising avenues:

  1. The field of FemTech, a category of software, diagnostics, products, and services that use technology often to focus on women’s health and well-being.
  2. The entry of more women into hi-tech entrepreneurship.

The goal is to accelerate both of these important and interrelated disciplines.
