Special Envoy for the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS and Special Representative for Syria Ambassador James Jeffrey will travel to London, Copenhagen, and Brussels from January 27-30.

In London, Ambassador Jeffrey, joined by Special Envoy for Syria Joel Rayburn, will attend a Syria Small Group Meeting with representatives from Egypt, France, Germany, Jordan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom.  The Syria Small Group continues its work to advance the UN’s efforts to achieve a political solution to the conflict in Syria on the basis of UN Security Council Resolution 2254.

In Copenhagen, Ambassador Jeffrey, joined by Ambassador William Roebuck, will lead an interagency delegation to a political director’s level meeting of the Global Coalition’s Small Group on January 29. Acting Principal Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism John Godfrey will also lead a discussion on the Coalition’s efforts to counter ISIS’s global networks.  The last meeting of senior Coalition leaders took place on November 14 at the Ministerial level in Washington, D.C.

Following Copenhagen, Ambassador Jeffrey will travel to Brussels on January 30. In Brussels, he will hold meetings with senior EU officials to discuss the situation in Syria and Iraq, and the implementation of UNSCR 2254 on the Syrian conflict.
