Special Representative for Syria Engagement and Special Envoy for the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS Ambassador James Jeffrey will travel to Ankara and Istanbul, Turkey and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from January 9-13.

In Turkey, Ambassador Jeffrey will meet with senior Turkish officials and members of the Syrian opposition to discuss issues of mutual concern including, the current situation in northeast Syria, implementation of UNSCR 2254 on the resolution of the Syrian conflict, and the Coalition’s continued efforts to ensure an enduring defeat of ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

On January 12 Ambassador Jeffrey will arrive in Riyadh for meetings with senior Saudi officials to discuss our ongoing efforts to promote stability and security in Syria, including the need to continue stabilization activities to ensure the enduring defeat of ISIS.  In both countries Ambassador Jeffrey will also discuss recent regional developments to ensure continued coordination on Syria and our efforts to defeat ISIS.
