On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas on 50 years of independence.
Since independence, The Bahamas has been a friend and key partner of the United States in the region. We take this opportunity to congratulate The Bahamas on its successful chairmanship of the Caribbean Community. Together we are addressing the regional challenges of irregular migration, the critical insecurity and political turmoil plaguing Haiti, transnational crime, and the climate crisis. The United States appreciates The Bahamas’ leadership defending democracy and human rights internationally.
On the occasion of your 50th year as an independent nation, the United States and the American people wish the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and the Bahamian people a prosperous year to come.
