The Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations and Embassy London mark the anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001 with the opening of the temporary exhibition, And Yet We Rise: 20 Years of Remembrance and Reflection on September 11, at the U.S. Embassy in London. The exhibition will be on display from September 9 to December 31, 2021, and will explore themes centered on the effect, aftermath, and healing following the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York City, Washington D.C., and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
The exhibit features a mixed showcase of art, media, and cultural pieces that share stories of grief, strength, resilience, and peace through the work of both U.S. and British artists. The exhibit pieces were provided by partners such as the Flight 93 National Memorial, the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, the London Embassy collection, the Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies (FAPE), as well as a field of renowned contemporary artists.
