The International School of Port-of-Spain is a private, not-for-profit coeducational day school, which offers an educational program for students in prekindergarten through grade 12. The school opened in September 1994. The school year comprises two semesters extending from late August to mid-January and mid-January to late June.

Organization: The school is governed by a Board of Directors that includes 7 members, each of whom has an alternate. All 14 members normally attend board meetings. Six of the directors are elected from the Parent Teacher Organization, and 8 are representatives of major corporate sponsors of the school, including the U.S. Embassy. The school is operated with the consent and support of the government of Trinidad and Tobago.

Curriculum: The curriculum is that of a U.S., academic, college-preparatory school. Spanish is taught as a foreign language from prekindergarten. All students participate in art, music, physical education, drama, health, and computer studies as well as in core academic subjects. Separate elementary, middle, and high schools provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Advanced Placement courses have been in place since August 1997 and a program exists for students with mild learning difficulties. The school is accredited by AdvancED and the Ministry of Education in Trinidad and Tobago. The school is also accredited by the International Baccalaureate (IB) to offer the Primary Years Program (PYP) and the Middle Years Program (MYP).

Faculty: In the 2019-2020 school year, there were 68 faculty members. The director is an experienced overseas school administrator and facilitates a number of educational initiatives within the school and local community.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year, enrollment was 370.

Facilities: The school is located west of the capital city of Port-of-Spain and is housed on a purpose-built campus that opened in May 1999. The facilities are all air-conditioned, and every classroom is connected to the Internet through a wireless campus. Instructional spaces include a multipurpose hall, a cafeteria, a dedicated computer lab, 4 science labs, 3 art rooms, a library/media center, 40 classrooms, a fine arts center, which includes a 300-seat theater, a fully air-conditioned gymnasium, athletic fields, asphalt play yards, and enclosed activity areas.

Finances: Annual tuition rates are as follows for the 2019-2020 school year: PK 3: $10,300; PK 4: $15,000; K-grade 5: $19,500; grades 6-8: $19,800; and grades 9-12: $20,200. There is also a one-time per child, capital contribution to the building fund of $6,000. For PK3 the capital contribution is $2,000 and a remainder of $4,000 to be paid off in the PK4 year. There is a $100 per student application fee. (All fees are quoted in U.S. dollars.)
