CANDIDATE:             Christine J. Toretti

Christine J. Toretti is an accomplished businesswoman, philanthropist and civic leader.  She served as President and CEO of the S.W Jack Drilling Company, Indiana Pennsylvania from 1990 -2010.  During her tenure, it was the largest privately held land-based drilling company in the United States. Under Ms. Toretti’s leadership, the revenues and employment grew exponentially.  In an effort to support women in corporate leadership roles, she created a global retreat for female CEOs. Dedicated to public service, Ms. Toretti founded the Anne Anstine Excellence in Public Service Series and the Dodie Londen Excellence in Public Service Series, training programs dedicated to educate, empower and advance women in politics.  President George W. Bush appointed Ms. Toretti as Vice Chair of the Rural Telephone Bank, U.S Department of Agriculture.  He also appointed her as a Member of the National Petroleum Council and the Advisory Board for the U.S. Secretary of Energy.  Her long record of achievement in business, as a manager of diverse workforce, and extensive service as a committed leader in civic affairs make her well-qualified to serve as Ambassador to the Republic of Malta.

Ms. Toretti was a Director of the Pittsburgh Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland (1997).  Currently, she serves as the Chairman of S&T Bank (Indiana, PA) where she has been an outside director for thirty-three years.  She is also director of EQT Corporation (Pittsburgh, PA).  Active in politics, Ms. Toretti has been Republican National Committeewoman from Pennsylvania since 1997.  She served as Vice Chair and Finance Chair of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education 1995-2004) and she was also an appointed Member of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission (2001-2002). 

Ms. Toretti received her B.S. from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1981.  She also has attended Harvard Business School’s Executive Education program annually starting in 1995 and has participated in Oxford University’s Leadership Program in Oxford, England in 2013 and 2015.  She received and Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Pennsylvania.  A recipient of numerous awards, Ms. Toretti recently received the Global Athena Leadership Award, joining an elite rank of thirty-three women that includes Secretary Condoleezza Rice, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Billie Jean King.
