Recognizing the shared democratic, multi-racial and multi-ethnic characteristics of U.S. and Uruguayan societies, the Governments of the U.S. and Uruguay concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to Promote Racial and Ethnic Equality and Social Inclusion on May 14, 2014. Through the MOU, we will deepen our cooperation and exchange best practices to promote our shared belief that equality of opportunity for all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age or disability, is vital to fostering an environment of peace, democracy and prosperity throughout the world.
