On behalf of the United States of America, I send my best wishes to the people of Uganda in celebration of your 57th anniversary of independence.
The United States and Uganda share a common commitment to regional peace and stability in East Africa. Uganda’s continued contribution to the African Union Mission in Somalia and collaborative efforts to control the spread of epidemic diseases reflect its role as a regional leader on the continent. The United States looks forward to working with the Ugandan people to advance democratic institutions and fundamental freedoms.
I wish the people of Uganda a safe and prosperous year to come.
