Background

On February 24, 2022, the Government of the Russian Federation launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Since then, the war has caused countless lives, wipe spread destruction to infrastructure, and large-scale population displacement. The mobilization of international forces to aid in the recovery and reconstruction of the nation cannot be emphasized enough.

The Biden Administration, along with our Allies and international partners, has pledged ongoing commitment and resources to ensuring a peaceful and independent Ukraine. International coordination by governments, financial resources, and significant support from the private sector will be needed to rebuild Ukraine and lay the groundwork for a free, prosperous, and democratic Ukrainian nation.

The Ukraine Partnerships Series

The U.S. Department of State’s Office of Global Partnerships has launched the Ukrainian Partnership Series, an action-oriented series of events composed of interactive panels, forums, inspirational talks, and deep-dive sessions to discuss the wide range of opportunities for planning, collaborating, and investing in Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction in the short and long term.

The goal is to convene governments, corporations, investors, philanthropies, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, diaspora, and civil society groups, to share their expertise, analyze the key sectors that will be core to Ukraine’s reconstruction, and promote public private partnerships as a tool to facilitate redevelopment, revitalize the economy of Ukraine, and strengthen the partnership between Ukraine and the United States.

The Office of Global Partnerships is seeking to co-collaborate on events that align with the U.S. government’s foreign policy priorities in supporting Ukraine. Events branded under the Ukraine Partnership Series can anticipate receiving communication support to amplify our shared message, participation from a Department of State representative for collaborative brainstorming, access to Department of State resources and to a network of private sector and government stakeholders.

Events under the Ukraine Partnership Series, must:

  1. Are either organized by the Department of State or co-hosted in partnership with another U.S. government agency and/or with a non-federal entity.
  2. Align with the U.S. government’s efforts to support the revitalization and economic redevelopment of Ukraine
  3. Have U.S. government participation in the event as a speaker, panelist, etc.

The Department of State also seeks to amplify independently organized events that align with the objectives of the Ukraine Partnership Series.

Why is this important?

Restoring the economy of Ukraine will aid in resolving current world crises such as food insecurity and sustainable energy. To guarantee that Ukraine will be a strong, democratic, and safe nation, it is important to rebuild important infrastructure, support the return of investment, provide a safe home for refugees, and promote modernization.

This Partnership Series would be a significant opportunity to start discussions with stakeholders and experts about the best strategy for reconstruction, including deeper, broader efforts to rebuild long-term economic, technological, and environmental sustainability.
