Under Secretary for Political Affairs David Hale spoke with his EU counterparts today by video conference during the EU Political Directors’ meeting in Zagreb, Croatia, to discuss global issues, including the situation in Iraq and Iran.  Under Secretary Hale emphasized the importance of Transatlantic cooperation and coordination in resolving regional issues, and he expressed appreciation for the efforts by European allies and partners in support of shared goals for peace and stability.  Under Secretary Hale regretted he could not be there in person due to events in Iraq and Iran but looks forward to seeing his EU counterparts again soon.
