Under Secretary David Hale met today with Federated States of Micronesia President David Panuelo in Washington, D.C.  Under Secretary Hale and President Panuelo discussed the enduring partnership between the United States and the Federated States of Micronesia enshrined in the Compact of Free Association, and the importance of the ongoing discussions to amend certain provisions of the Compact and its subsidiary agreements.  They also discussed continued support for global efforts to achieve the denuclearization of North Korea.  The Under Secretary and the President reaffirmed a shared commitment to the values of democracy and respect for the rule of law.
