Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Keith Krach will travel to Paris, France, December 4-6.

Under Secretary Krach will meet on December 4 with leadership of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), a collection of 36 member countries that promotes economic prosperity through open market policies.  As part of efforts to strengthen global economic security, he will meet with OECD officials to underscore the importance of ensuring the OECD is a forum for promoting high standards and a level playing field through rigorous research and analysis.  He will reaffirm U.S. support for on-going work at the OECD to develop policy options that address common challenges and to discuss cooperation in establishing a common approach to global economic security.

On December 5, Under Secretary Krach will lead the U.S. delegation to the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) 2019 Ministerial and participate in bilateral meetings with representatives of IEA member countries on the sidelines of the event.  The IEA provides data, analysis, and solution on all fuels and technologies.  The IEA family of 30 member countries and eight association countries accounts for almost 75% of global energy consumption and more than half of global energy production.

Under Secretary Krach will also seek to strengthen U.S. economic partnerships in meetings with senior French officials and private sector representatives.  He will encourage both government and business leaders to take strong action to promote quality infrastructure, ensure the security of 5G networks, and foster a global economic environment that promotes competition, innovation, and a level playing field for all.
