On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I send my congratulations to the people of Uzbekistan as they celebrate their Independence Day on September 1.

For 32 years, the United States-Uzbekistan partnership has been built upon a shared commitment to Uzbekistan’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. On this day, we celebrate the work we do to strengthen that strategic partnership including in key areas such as advancing regional security, increasing economic connectivity, enhancing people-to-people ties, and striving to protect human rights. Uzbekistan has been at the heart of Central Asia’s advancement, and we commend its commitment to regional peace, prosperity, and security. We look forward to furthering the United States-Uzbekistan strategic partnership, finding solutions to issues of mutual interest, and strengthening the strong friendship and trust between our two nations.

I offer the people of Uzbekistan my best wishes on this auspicious day.
