On October 29th, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo chaired the 2019 meeting of the President’s Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons. This cabinet-level task force demonstrates the U.S. government’s strong commitment to advance federal efforts to fight human trafficking.

At the meeting, Secretary Pompeo presented the 2019 Presidential Award for Extraordinary Efforts to Combat Trafficking in Persons, an honor that symbolizes how crucial individuals and organizations are to this fight.

He presented the award to Ms. Kendis Paris, who helps lead Truckers Against Trafficking, an organization that has transformed trucking industry professionals into critical allies to identify and prevent human trafficking.

Secretary Pompeo also honored the Responsible Business Alliance for showing us the power of businesses to create meaningful change to address forced labor in global supply chains.

I encourage you to follow Kendis, the Responsible Business Alliance, and the State Department’s Trafficking in Persons Office as we work to stop traffickers, protect victims, and make the promise of freedom a reality for all.
