On November 5, Her Royal Highness Reema Bint Bandar Al-Saud, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United States and a member of the International Olympic Committee, along with senior officials from the Department of State including the Secretary’s Office for Global Women’s Issues Senior Official Katrina Fotovat and Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Mission to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Martina Strong, met during a virtual roundtable to discuss gender-based violence in sports. The participants highlighted challenges and shared best practices on preventing, responding to, and holding perpetrators accountable for acts of gender-based violence. The Department of State and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia agreed to collaborate further on protecting the human rights of women and girls and enabling their safe participation in sports.
